Caudate Nucleus and Metacognition The caudate nucleus is one of those areas of the brain that is directly involved in attention and arousal, influencing the flow of our thinking and enabling the mental movement from subject to subject. Together with the memory functions of the hippocampus, the caudate enables us to focus on both the internal and external components of our world.
