The Binding Problem

The binding problem of neuropsychology suggests a deep role for metacognition in processes of perception and its integration. The ability to quickly integrate vast amounts of sensory data across receptor systems producing a rapid, coherent, and singular perception points to a higher-order activity in the brain responsible for binding our perceptual experience together for our later conscious evaluation.
